The Facilitie Our state-of-the-art data center features everything that you would expect from any high-end collocation facility, plus a lot more. We take pride in our track record of providing the most reliable dedicated hosting atmosphere available anywhere. DI Dedicated is located across a $15 Million dollar data center in southern California, we have had 100% uptime (excluding prescheduled maintenance and upgrades during our normal service window). With speed and reliability as our primary design concerns, we have created a network that meets those specifications.
Power: Redundant 4000 AMP, 480-volt electrical feeds power the data center. This system provides automatic switching between two independent transformers located on the property.
Besides a total of One Megawatt of redundant UPS power, our collocation facility houses a fully redundant 2,400 AMP, 48V, positive ground DC Telco power plant and distribution system. This system currently powers all fiber providers as well as carriers in our collocation facility. DC electrical can be installed in cabinets, as well as cages, as necessary for customer demand.
A fully redundant One Megawatt paralyzing UPS system, redundant Master and Emergency System Busses (MSB/ESB) and a 2 Megawatt Diesel Generator system with 3500 gallons of fuel, provides backup power for the collocation facility. It is anticipated that cogeneration facilities will be installed in the next 6 to 12 months. UPS power is fed into redundant Power Distribution Units and from there into Remote Power Panels (RPP). Each RPP is monitored to the circuit breaker level to ensure early warning overload protection. Redundant Powerware 500KW UPS System. Dual 4-Megawatt Feeds and Transfer Switches.
HVAC: Air conditioning and air handling services for our collocation facility are provided by a series of three fully redundant 180-ton data center specific closed loop chiller systems. These systems provide over 500 tons of humidity and temperature controlled air conditioning to the data center.
Security: Onsite security is provided by a combination of biometric hand scanners, electronic card control systems, hi-resolution motion sensitive digital video surveillance systems and onsite personnel. Access into the collocation facility is granted only after positive identification (both manual and bio-metric) has been established. Movement throughout the collocation facility is further tracked by usage of electronic card keys.
All critical areas of the collocation facility are zoned off and access is allowed only to those individuals that need access to those areas. Access to our Meet-Me and POP facilities are provided on an escort-only basis.
The entire collocation facility is alarmed and monitored with video cameras and off-site alarm monitoring services. Customers can access the building 7x24x365 via an intercom system and camera connected to the manned video surveillance system. Once customer service personnel have visually identified the customers, they are allowed into the lobby area. This area becomes a mantrap as the door locks behind them. Once in the lobby/man trap, access is monitored by another video camera. The customers are then required to use the biometric hand scanners and a security code to gain access to the customer service area, which is manned 7x24x365. Customer Service Personnel must use another hand scanner and a code and proximity card to escort customers into the data center. All equipment entering and leaving the data center is checked for serial numbers and descriptions against the customers file in the computer system. Customers are then escorted back out of the building. This hands-on approach to security is much more effective than data centers that allow customers to come and go unsupervised.
Monitoring: Manned 24 x 7 x 365, our Operation and Control Center (OCC) provides the facilities to monitor all Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), fire suppression systems and security systems onsite by specially trained personal. Critical airflows, temperature, humidity, power consumption by individual customer, early warning fire identification and suppression systems, generator, chillers, CRAC Units and all security systems are monitored in real-time from the OCC.
Fire Detection & Suppression: Fire detection is provided by a collocation facility-wide Very Early Warning Aspirating Smoke Detection System (VESDA). Each of our 30 CRAC units has its own detection monitor that is also connected to the VESDA system. Monitored both onsite and remotely, the VESDA units are but one piece of our Triple Interlock, Pre-Action fire detection and suppression system.
Fiber Facilities: Our Data Center is a Telco and Optically Neutral facility fed by two separate fiber vaults. All fiber enters the facility via two divergent routes and into a secure fiber pop at the center of the building. Individual carriers then hand-off the circuits and other facilities in a specially designed Meet-Me Room adjacent to the fiber pop.
Our seven fiber providers give our optically neutral network the redundancy and bandwidth needed for any application. We feature OC48s or better from the following providers: AT&T, Pacific Bell, WorldCom, Time Warner, Level 3, XO and ICG.
Bandwidth Carriers: Our Data Center is currently home to 9 different IP carriers including XO, ICG, Time Warner, Level 3, Yipes, SBC, Cogent and Internap. Because we are situated in a carrier neutral facility, we have access to all carriers located in the data center.
